Dr. Paul G. Chamberlain begins his search for Atlantis in the ruins of Plato’s Academy in Athens, and as he sets out on his exciting journey across the Mediterranean he is confident that he will find evidence of the lost continent of Atlantis.

In his travels through the wine-dark sea, he explores several promising locations for Atlantis, including Santorini, Crete, Troy, the Black Sea, and a mysterious island in the Gulf of Euboea, but the more he travels through the Mediterranean world, the more convinced he becomes that the map is not the territory, and to solve the mystery of Atlantis he has to focus on the ideas hidden within Plato’s dialogues.

The closer he gets to what he believes to be the site that inspired Plato to write his extraordinary account of Atlantis, he learns that Atlantis is not only modelled on an ideal city-state, the royal city also incorporates Plato’s concept of the human soul, and when the final clue is revealed to him in a love tryst with a mysterious woman, alchemy, numerology, and mysticism start to collide in a kaleidoscope of new and exciting possibilities…

Dr. Paul G. Chamberlain was born in England to a family that traces its roots back to the time of the Spanish Armada. His father was a sea captain, and his mother was an artist. Whilst still a boy his family moved to Kuwait where he lived happily snorkelling, sailing, and exploring the ruins of Alexander the Great, until the perfumes of Araby whispered to him to return to school in England.

His family immigrated to British Columbia in 1970, and he studied geography at the University of Victoria. Whilst still a student he learnt to fly, and after graduating he pursued a career in aviation before returning to university to complete his doctorate. Paul now divides his time between flying, teaching, and travelling.

Dr. Paul G. Chamberlain has presented his academic research at conferences in Canada, the United States, and Europe, and has published in a variety of scholarly journals. He is the author of four books, and has contributed short stories and poems to a variety of literary venues; more recently, his photography has been featured in several exhibitions. He likes to think that his love of the arts stems from his mother, and his appetite for adventure springs from his father. He lives in the wilds of British Columbia.
